What’s the topic, George? Peeves, what’s your opinion? How about you, Madama? And of course, you, too, author Sandra!
GW Rule #45
Being to advise or reprehend any one, consider whether it ought to be in public or in private; presently, or at some other time in what terms to do it and in reproving show no sign of choler but do it with all sweetness and mildness.
PEEVES
If somebody made a mistake, try to talk to them in private and be kind. Barking at them only makes them feel ashamed or embarrassed.
MADAMA
You can still tell the truth without being publicly mean. If you want to bring the best out in someone, encourage them to try another way.
SANDRA
Being sensitive and kind allows the other person to take in the correction or criticism. People often shutdown if embarrassed and have a harder time taking a risk the next time.
